TVET job options excite students

KUALA LANGAT: Day one of the National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Day celebration saw students eagerly exploring job opportunities.

The students also expressed excitement at prospective career options in the field, highlighting how TVET equipped them with valuable and practical skills, during the two-day fair held at the Kuala Langat Industrial Training Institute.

Muhammad Nizar Hafiz Noor Hasmizal, 19, said the vocational field was always the primary option for his future career.

The automotive student said his interest was inspired by his father who had a passion for cars.

“I’m passionate about cars and repairs, and decided to further my education in the automotive field.

“My parents also fully support this decision,” said the student from Institut Kemahiran Tinggi Belia Negara Temerloh in Pahang.

Muhammad Nizar Hafiz also had a clear plan on what he wanted to achieve upon graduation.

“These qualifications will give me the option of working with foreign automotive brands based in Malaysia or even opening my own workshop,” he said.

Amirah Syahirah Zanli and Noor Hazatul Ainun Noor Hazilan, both 19, said they pursued the vocational field to add value to their future jobs.

“Employers may look at academics but through TVET qualifications, we have additional and valuable skills.

“It also gives us the chance to either work for others and even open our own business later on,” said the Sultan Abdul Samad Vocational College students who are in their third-year studies in a baking programme.

Sai Meenakshi Chithrasenan said she was surprised at the number of work opportunities advertised for her field of study.

The 20-year-old, who is pursuing a diploma in secretarial studies, also took the opportunity to apply for vacancies at the fair.

“This is my first time attending a TVET job fair and it’s very exciting to see so many work options.

“The people here have been very helpful and gave good advice on how to pursue my career,” said the International Islamic College student who is finishing her studies soon.

Meanwhile, telecommunications student Muhammad Irfan Rithauddin said the fair gave him a broader look at opportunities in this field.

“There are many companies offering vacancies and I’m excited at prospective career options once I finish my studies,” said the 23-year-old student from Institut Latihan Perindustrian Pedas in Negri Sembilan.
