WITH traffic congestion so ubiquitous in the Klang Valley, we rarely hear news of a car chase happening in urban areas.

However, recently, a video of a police mobile patrol vehicle (MPV) chasing after a car was circulated online. It came with a claim that the incident happened in Subang Jaya recently.

Is this true?

Verdict:

TRUE

Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Wan Azlan Wan Mamat, in a statement, said that the car chase happened on June 10 at around 3.32pm at Jalan USJ 1.

He said it all began when a patrol officer on duty tried to stop a suspicious car. The car then sped away, and the officer gave chase.

However, the officer lost sight of the suspect’s car when it drove into a housing area at Jalan USJ 1/IE.

“We are investigating the case under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing public servant in the discharge of his public functions.

“Efforts to track down the suspect are in progress,” he said.

He also asks anyone with information about the incident to contact the investigating officer, Insp. Muhammad Afiq Mohamad Fesal, at 014-3469866 or go to the Subang Jaya district police headquarters.
