Man surrenders to cops, confesses to murdering wife in Batu Gajah
IPOH: A 36-year-old unemployed man has surrendered to the police and confessed to killing his wife at a hotel in Batu Gajah.
Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusof Hassan Vasei said the man surrendered at the Batu Gajah police station at about 2pm on Thursday (June 20).
ACP Mohd Yusof said the man is believed to have stabbed his 32-year-old wife.
“We found the victim’s body in the hotel room with stab wounds. Police also found a knife at the scene,” he said in a statement.
Comm Mohd Yusri said the man and the victim went to the hotel separately and stayed in the same room the day before the incident.
He added that the motive behind the murder is because the victim (the wife) wanted to proceed with a divorce.
He said the case is being investigated for murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
“The suspect has been arrested for further investigation. Those with information on the case are urged to contact senior investigating officer Asst Supt VK. Gunaselan at 012-363 4341,” he said.
