Family’s love driving Zii Jia to be Malaysia’s first to win gold at Olympics
PETALING JAYA: Professional singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia wants to do what other Malaysian has not done – win a gold medal at the Olympic Games.
And Zii Jia said his family’s love is the driving factor behind his mission to end the wait for Olympics glory at the Paris Games in July.
And to underline his admiration for his family, Zii Jia had revealed in an Instagram post by Team LZJ, a short but sweet poem which explained the strength behind the player’s daring goal to go for gold at the Olympics.
“My parents’ strength instilled a dream. A dream shared with my siblings. The root of that dream further strengthened from love and nurture by the whole family,” read the post.
His parents are Lee Chee Hin and Leow Siet Peng and his siblings are sister Lee Zii Yii and brother Lee Tao.
“Now I walk on the path of that dream. A dream made possible by past heroes. The dream for those who are brave enough.
“I am that brave, to not only walk that path, but to go further than anyone before. To honour their sacrifices and make the dream of a nation a reality.
Malaysia’s previous best was Datuk Lee Chong Wei, who has won three silver medals in the Games.
“I dare to dream because of my family’s love, the love I have for badminton, and the love for my country.”
It was a clear and loud message on how single-minded Zii Jia has been in chasing the Olympics dream and the way his family had been backing him all the way.
