Selangor to appeal MFL’s reduced fine

Selangor to appeal MFL’s reduced fine

PETALING JAYA: Despite the Malaysian Football League’s (MFL) reduction of Selangor’s fine from RM100,000 to RM60,000, the club intends to pursue their appeal.

In a statement, Selangor said they had taken note of the reviewed decision made by the MFL board of directors on Thursday (June 27) regarding the club’s non-participation in the Charity Shield match against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), but have not submitted an appeal yet.

“At present, Selangor has not submitted any appeal to the MFL.

“The club will proceed to file our appeal based on the reviewed decision made by the MFL board of directors and in accordance with the relevant regulations,” the statement read.

The MFL board had reduced Selangor’s fine following Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah’s strongly worded statement slamming the league’s “absurd” punishment.

Earlier, MFL had eased up on their punishment towards Selangor, allowing them to keep their three points and allowing fans back into the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium for the home fixture against JDT.

MFL have given the club three days to file an appeal, starting on Thursday (June 27).
