It said the decision was made unilaterally by the Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry.

It also said it hoped that any decisions by the state relating to its MM2H programme will be made according to rules and regulations under the Tourism Industry Act 1992 (Act 482).

It added that they were open to meet and hear from the state ministry on the matter to clarify issues pertaining to its MM2H programme.

Sabah launched its MM2H programme on June 30 and started accepting applications on July 1.
