Raghad Kurdi lodges police report after denied entry into house

PETALING JAYA: Widow of former Sarawak governor Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud, Toh Puan Raghad Kurdi Taib, lodged a police report after she was barred from entering her own house in Sarawak.

She also said that she had made the “necessary court application” following the incident that took place last week. “Please I’m doing all this with a heavy heart.. I shouldn’t have to prove anything to anyone. He was my husband.. but I have to record this shameful act done against me and demand justice.

“I know I haven’t been sharing my stories before, but I think it’s time to do so,” she wrote in her Instagram post on Friday (July 12).

The post, which also showed photos of Raghad standing outside of the gate, wrote that she flew to Kuching to visit Abdul Taib’s grave. She said that once reaching the house after a charity event in Satok, was surprised that the guard barred her from entering the house.

“We were turned away at the gate and the guards told me they did not have authorisation to let me in.

“But Alhamdulillah, the guard out of the goodness of his heart let me in… Allah will always protect and defend those who are oppressed,” she said. Raghad also claimed that the guard who allowed her in was sacked from his job.

Abdul Taib married Raghad, who is of Syrian descent, in 2010. She has been in the spotlight over a family dispute recently. Abdul Taib, 87, passed away at a private hospital in Kuala Lumpur on Feb 21.

A few days before his death, Raghad allegedly had taken Abdul Taib away from a hospital in Kuching which prompted Abdul Taib’s family members to lodge a police report against her.

Raghad later denied that she removed her husband from the hospital against medical advice.
