Online MM2H system being developed, says Tiong

PETALING JAYA: An online system for the revamped Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme for applicants’ use is currently in development, says Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.

The Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister also dismissed claims that MM2H applications were solely handled by agents, adding that some procedures would be able to be done using the upcoming online system.

“I have instructed ministry officers to expedite the work. This (online system) is also the wish of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,”he said.

The revamped MM2H programme was officially launched and came into effect on June 15 this year. Participants have been categorised into Platinum, Gold, and Silver groups. The qualifications and conditions for agents have also been reworked to protect applicants’ rights and ensure the interests of agents through market restructuring.

Tiong said that anyone who meets the relevant conditions and qualifications can apply to become an agent for the revamped MM2H, as qualified persons are needed to help promote and facilitate the programme.

He also advised former agents who do not meet the new requirements not to spread rumours and disrupt the programme’s implementation.

“If any irresponsible agents are found doing so, they will be blacklisted.

“We have standardised the service charges for agents and specified the scope of services that agents must provide to applicants. This measure is to ensure that the interests of both agents and applicants are protected.

“Therefore, I hope all qualified agents will sincerely provide their services, working together to promote MM2H and contribute to the nation,” Tiong said.
