Perak Bersatu fully supports Muhyiddin’s call, says secretary
IPOH: Perak Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) fully supports the call by party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to not have any contests for top leadership positions at the upcoming party elections.
Perak Bersatu secretary Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin said the state leadership fully trusts and believes in Muhyiddin’s suggestion and added that his idea can create a harmonious and united front from the leaders to the grassroots.
“We will accept and state our loyalty to the president, while supporting the principle of prioritising the principle of the party before individuals for the survival of the party in facing challenges in the road towards the 16th General Election,” he said.
“The state leadership will also in unison support Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu if he wishes to contest the party vice president position in the upcoming party elections,” he said in a statement on Monday (June 22).
He added that any leaders from Perak who offer to contest the party supreme council or wings at national level will be supported.
Muhyiddin had during the party convention last week (July 13) said that he had held discussions and negotiated with party members to avoid any clashes in the lead-up to the October party polls in order to preserve internal unity.
