Deputy CM Jagdeep on leave for leg injury to be treated, says Chow
GEORGE TOWN: Penang Deputy Chief Minister ll Jagdeep Singh Deo (pic) asked for leave to seek treatment for his injured leg on July 19, says Chow Kon Yeow.
The Chief Minister said Jagdeep indicated he may need to undergo surgery on his left leg but would first undergo tests with specialists as soon as possible.
“After considering his explanation and the reasons for his application I gave him 11 days’ leave from Monday (July 22) until Aug 5,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (July 23).
“I have been told that Jagdeep began his treatment on Monday,” he said, adding that there was never any discussion about a change in Jagdeep’s portfolio.
He said the state leadership prayed for Jagdeep’s speedy recovery.
It was reported that the Datuk Keramat assemblyman was on leave for a few weeks for personal reasons.
On Monday, Jagdeep said he was in Kuala Lumpur to seek a second opinion and treatment for his leg, which was hurt in a fall two years ago.
