51 squatter houses demolished, six illegals caught in Sabah
KOTA KINABALU: Some 51 squatter houses were demolished in the state capital, where six illegals were also apprehended during an integrated operation led by the police on Tuesday.
Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Comm Kasim Muda in a statement here on Tuesday (July 23), said the operation started at 3.30pm at a settlement in this district and ended at 5.20pm.
The integrated operation to demolish illegal structures and arrest immigrants who were in the state illegally involved personnel from the National Registration Department, Rela, Civil Defence Force, Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd, (SESB) state Water Department, Lands and Surveys Department and Community Welfare Department, he added.
“The six Filipinos detained consisted of two men and four women, aged between 25 to 50 years old.
“The arrests will be investigated under Section 6(1)(c) and Section 51(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
“We will continue with the operation in future in efforts to curb crimes, illegal presence, drugs and social ills in Kota Kinabalu,” said Kasim.
