Policeman charged with murder of Nur Farah Kartini

HULU SELANGOR: A policeman has been charged at the Magistrate’s Court here with the murder of Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah who was found dead in a palm oil plantation.

Muhammad Alif Monjani, 26, was accused of murdering Nur Farah Kartini, 25, at Ladang SKC Keledang in Hulu Bernam between 9am on July 10 and 6pm on July 15.

He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries the death penalty, if convicted.

The accused, who wore a black collared t-shirt and dark pants, said he understood the charge after it was read out by the court interpreter.

No plea was recorded as a murder charge is under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Ku Hayati Ku Haron asked the court to fix a mention date in two month’s time pending the completion of telecommunications and DNA reports.

Sessions Court judge Mardhiah Mohammed Redza, who sat as a Magistrate, fixed Aug 30 for mention.

Lawyers Nur Aida Md Zainuddin and Aida Jaafar Mad Ariff represented the accused.

Just before the proceedings began, a policewoman who manned the courtroom asked the families of both the accused and the victim to control their emotions.

“Please control your emotions when proceedings start,” she said.
