LHDN announces six-month grace period for einvoicing implementation

PETALING JAYA: The government will give a six-month grace period in the first phase of electronic invoicing implementation, which will commence on Aug 1.

Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) chief executive officer Datuk Dr Abu Tariq Jamaluddin said in a press conference on Friday (July 26) that violators will not be penalised during the grace period.

“During the six-month grace period, businesses will only need to submit a consolidated e-invoice for all their transactions.

“Even during the grace period, if consumers request an electronic receipt, businesses are not required to issue an electronic invoice,” he said in a special e-invoicing press conference here on Friday (July 26), reported Sin Chew Daily.

Abu Tariq noted that consumers can still request a physical receipt.

The e-invoicing implementation is mandatory for companies with an annual revenue of RM100mil and above.
