Perak JPJ auctions 50 vehicles including eight cloned cars

IPOH: Eight cloned cars from a neighbouring country were among 50 vehicles auctioned off by the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

State JPJ deputy director Ab Aziz Awang Teh said most of the cloned vehicles are allowed on the road for a certain number of years only from that particular country.

“So these vehicles are brought into the country and cloned later.

“From the eight cars, six of them are meant to be scrapped,” he told reporters after a public auction on Wednesday (July 31).

Among the vehicles put up at auction included lorries, cars, vans, semi-trailers, buses and motorcycles.

Ab Aziz said the auction of the vehicles generated a total of RM129,800.

He said the highest bid of RM25,300 was for a lorry while the lowest bid was RM50 for a motorcycle, meant to be scrapped.

“There were a total of 98 bidders who took part in the public auction.

“From the 50 vehicles, 26 can be licensed while the remaining 24 are meant to be scrapped,” he added.

Ab Aziz said a representative from the Perak National Audit Department was also present.
