Eason Chan Said To Have Ended Ningbo Concert 10 Mins Early So He Could Catch Table Tennis Gold Medal Match

After a two-month break, Hong Kong star Eason Chan returned to the stage, resuming his Fear and Dreams World Tour in Ningbo on August 9.

The singer fractured his cheekbone when he fainted from heatstroke while playing tennis in June.

Eason, 50, shared during the concert that he was a little nervous about his return as the area around his jaw feels sore if he moves the muscles too much.

“I’m conflicted because if I don’t use it, there’s a chance that in the future, I won’t be able to open my mouth wide when singing,” he revealed.

But it seems he had nothing to worry about.

According to reports, Eason was in great form and put on a high energy performance, though the 40°C heat left him soaking in sweat.

“How do you live in such a hot city?” he asked the audience as he wiped himself with a large towel,

When fans responded by telling him to take his shirt off, Eason teased: “Hubby has gained weight, you can see it! Let me look better first!”

He then added: “Taking off clothes will not happen at my concert… The focus of a concert isn’t how toned my abs are. If you want to see abs, look at my idol Aaron Kwok. He’s really trained well.”

After performing 30 songs, Eason returned to the stage for the encore, singing ’10 Years’ and ‘Today Next Year’ before hurriedly leaving.

Turns out, Eason was rushing to catch the Olympic men’s table tennis team final between China and Sweden that night.

His wife, fashion influencer Hilary Tsui, had she posted on Instagram Stories a snap of the TV in their car playing the gold medal match. She wrote: “Can’t wait to watch [China’s Olympic champ] Fan Zhendong in the team event.”

This led to netizens teasing Eason for shortening his concert by 10 minutes so he could ‘knock off’ early.

“No wonder he slipped away after two encore songs, he wanted to watch Fan Zhendong!” one netizen quipped. Another said: “He ended 10 minutes early tonight, at 9.45pm. Super fast!”

China beat Sweden 3-0 to win the gold medal.

Zhendong, a well-known Swiftie,  also clinched gold in the men’s singles event.

Not missing the table tennis final for the world.
Thanking fans after his concert.
