Cops investigating link between cable thefts and headless body found in JB

JOHOR BARU: Police are investigating if there is any connection between the discovery of a headless body on railway tracks near Jalan Suka Ria in Kampung Melayu Majidee and the recent cable theft cases in the area.

“We are investigating whether these two cases are related, but as of today (Aug 14), the discovery of the body is still classified as a sudden death report (SDR),” he said Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat, adding that police believed the victim had been hit by a train.

He said that there had been four police made since early this year near the location concerning cable thefts.

He mentioned this during a press conference at the Johor Baru South District Police Headquarters on Wednesday (Aug 14).

ACP Raub was responding to questions about whether the incident was an accident or suicide.

“Our investigation revealed that the last two trains that passed through before the body was discovered were at 4am and 6am.

“We are unsure which train ran over the victim, and so far, we have not been able to identify the deceased,” he said.

Earlier, police sought the cooperation of those with missing family members following the discovery of a headless body at 7.53am on Tuesday (Aug 13).

“The victim is estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old, of medium brown complexion, and with a dragon-shaped tattoo on his back,” he said, adding that the victim was fully dressed in grey track bottoms and a white collarless T-shirt.

Investigations did not find any signs or evidence of a struggle nor any elements of criminal activity on the victim’s body.
