Cops have recorded statements from eight people linked to singer’s death

SHAH ALAM: Police here have recorded the statements of eight individuals in connection with the death of singer Muhammad Nidza Afham Mokhtar.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the investigation is ongoing.

“We are investigating various angles, including to discover whether there is any criminal element as well as any personal problems and mental aspects. We will get to the bottom of it,” he said when contacted on Saturday (Aug 17).

He had said on Friday (Aug 16) that no reports have been lodged on any missing items belonging to the singer, adding that his family had filed no reports of this nature.

“We confirm that no belongings of Muhammad Nidza Afham have gone missing, as claimed on social media.His family has also made no police reports on any loss of belongings,” he said when visiting the Kota Bridge, where the singer’s body was found.

During the visit, Comm Hussein was briefed on the investigation by the assistant investigating officer.

Among those who accompanied Comm Hussein were South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Cha Hoong Fong and his deputy Supt Kamalariffin Aman Shah.

On Wednesday (Aug 14) evening, the singer’s body was discovered underneath the Kota Bridge.

The singer was last seen leaving a house in Jalan Kerongsang 4 in Bandar Puteri on Aug 13.

His girlfriend traced his last location to the bridge where a family member found his wallet and other belongings.

A post mortem showed that there were no physical injuries on his body and a lab report is still pending to determine the exact cause of death.

Muhammad Nidza Afham – who is known for his single “Ternyata Bukan Aku” – gained fame for his song covers on social media, particularly on his YouTube channel, where his cover of “Rindu Setengah Mati” has nearly seven million views.

He also appeared in I Can See Your Voice Season 3. Living in Shah Alam, he previously studied Sports Management at UniKL and worked with his older brother while maintaining an active part-time presence on social media in the singing industry.
