Immigration Dept to investigate staff rudeness claim
PUTRAJAYA: An investigation has been launched following a TikTok video that claimed rude service by the Immigration Department.
Immigration director-general Datuk Ruslin Jusoh, at a press conference on Monday (Aug 19) at the department’s special operations and intelligence headquarters here, said that he was aware of the video and had ordered a thorough investigation to be conducted.
“At this moment, we are still studying the matter to see if there is a need to call the maker of the video to assist investigations,” he said.
In the video by TikTok user Rossneeda, she recounted an encounter at an Immigration counter where she claimed an officer had scolded two women. She added that she interjected to point out the rude treatment but was greeted with a dismissive attitude.
On complaints about misconduct in general, he said that he takes the matter seriously and that systems have been put in place to investigate such matters.
“You have various means to forward your complaint. Our Public Relations department is there and will be able to take down your complaint.”
“You can also do so at our counters and if you wish to not do so in person, you can send complaints via email. My email address is public knowledge and complaints have also been sent to me directly,” he said, adding that action will be taken if the misconduct is proven.
He added that the Public Complaints Management System (SISPAA) was also there to accept complaints.
Ruslin also said such avenues have been used to forward complaints of illegal immigrants.
“We can start investigations to confirm the matter and perform raids,” he said.
