Member Of HK Boyband Error Seen Knocking Down Elderly Woman With His Ferrari And Then Driving Off

Hong Kong singer Denis Kwok of popular boyband Error has come under fire for hitting an elderly woman with his car and leaving the scene after seeing that she was unhurt.

According to reports, Denis, 34, was reversing his red Ferrari when he knocked down the woman.

The incident, which took place at To Kwa Wan on Aug 18, was captured on two dashcam videos which have been widely shared online.

One of the clips shows the singer reversing his Ferrari and knocking down the woman as she tries to cross the road.

In another clip, Denis is seen getting out of his car to check on the woman. After speaking to her for a few seconds, he returns to his vehicle and drives off.

Footage of the accident has since gone viral, with netizens criticising the way he handled the situation and calling it a “hit and run”.

They argued that even if the woman said she was fine, he should have accompanied her to the hospital for a check-up.

“If you were responsible, you would stay with her and wait for an ambulance,” chided one netizen.

The next day, Denis took to Instagram to address the incident, saying that when he saw the woman fall to the ground through the rearview mirror, he immediately got out of the car to apologise to her.

“[He] asked if she was hurt, and whether there was any need to report to police or send her to hospital. The old lady said she was fine and there was no need for it and so I left the scene,” he wrote.

He denied committing a “hit and run” as suggested by some reports, saying he panicked after hitting a pedestrian and did not know how to handle the situation.

He admitted his behaviour was inappropriate and would be very careful in the future.

Denis added that he has filed a police report and promised to fully cooperate with the investigation.

However, media reports revealed that he only reported the incident 27 hours after it occurred, raising concerns about a possible violation of the law.

According to Hong Kong’s Road Traffic Ordinance, drivers involved in accidents resulting in injury, including to themselves, must report the incident to the police within 24 hours unless they are incapable of doing so.

Failing to comply with these regulations constitutes a criminal offense, punishable by a fine of HK$25,000 (S$4.2K) and up to six months’ imprisonment.
