Joint operations led to seizure of crude palm oil worth more than RM220,000

JOHOR BARU: A joint operation between the police and the Malaysia Palm Oil Board (MPOB) led them to seize almost 60,000 litres of crude palm oil estimated to be worth more than RM220,000.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said acting upon information, a team of police officers and personnel from Bukit Aman’s Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) intelligence unit and three MPOB enforcement officers carried out a raid and an inspection at a premise in Permas Jaya between 12.30am and 10.18am on Monday (Sept 2) morning.

“During the raid, the police together with MPOB, found a store suspected of storing crude palm oil illegally,” he said in a statement here on Monday night.

ACP Raub added the teams found three trailer tankers of different lengths that had been filled with crude palm oil at the scene.

“One unnumbered tanker is filled with crude palm oil with a capacity of 10,000 litres while another unnumbered tanker has 5,000 capacity litres. The third tanker has 43,000 litres.

“We also seized two pump machines together with a hose, two boiler towers, a forklift, an industrial 100-tonne weighing machine and a 40-tonne lorry,” he said adding that no arrests were made during the raid as there were no one at the premise when the teams launched the operation.

ACP Raub added the value of all seized items made during the operation was worth to be at RM465,111 with the crude palm oil alone being valued at RM220,500.

He said all of the items have been handed over to MPOB Johor Baru for further investigations under Section 78 of the Malaysia Palm Oil Board Act 1998 (Act 582).
