Vivian Chow Retiring From Performing To Spend Time With Her Cats

Hong Kong star Vivian Chow dropped a bombshell on fans during her Macau concert on August 31 when she announced that she would no longer hold concerts.

Nearing the end of the show, the 56-year-old choked back tears as she shared that her current A Long and Lasting Love world tour would be her last major solo performance. She then took the opportunity to bid farewell to her fans worldwide.

“This tour is about performing with a pure heart and singing for those who love me. As life moves into different stages, the things we pursue change a lot. Every show on this tour has been a countdown. This should be my last major solo concert,” said Vivian.

Fans were understandably stunned, with many shouting “No!”

Vivian explained that “the time is right” and expressed her desire to focus on taking care of her health and family.

“My cats are also getting older. I hope to spend more time with my cats and my husband (Joe Nieh),” she said.

Vivian shared previously that she misses her fur babies, Zhu Pi, BB and Mike, who are all more than 10 years old, very much when she’s away, so she would rather not leave them and travel too far.

But this is not goodbye for good.

Vivian assured fans that she’s not retiring from showbiz She’s just wants more time to recalibrate herself.

“Time flies by quickly, if you miss it, it’s gone. You understand, right?” she said.

After the Macau stop, Vivian is scheduled to continue her tour in Zhongmen, followed by Guangzhou in mid-September.

One of the most beloved Cantopop singers of the 1990s, Vivian announced her retirement in 1997 after 11 years in showbiz.

In 2004, Vivian made her comeback with the release of her first book, My Cat Son Pal Chow, marking her return to the industry.

Her cats and husband Joe Nieh are her priority.
Don’t worry, you’ll still see and hear from Vivian.
