HK actress Sharon Chan enjoys bak kut teh in Malaysia, crowned ‘queen’ of the dish by friends

Hong Kong actress Sharon Chan recently arrived in Malaysia for work, and she made sure to seize the opportunity to indulge in one of her favourite cuisines.

In a recent update on the microblogging platform Threads, Chan shared a video of herself enjoying bak kut teh, saying it’s the first thing she did after landing in the country.

The 45-year-old said during a recent event in Kuala Lumpur: “I previously came here to film and enjoyed eating bak kut teh. My friends even gave me the nickname ‘Bak Kut Teh Queen’.”

Chan mentioned that when she was in Malaysia last year to film the travel programme Walking With You, she ate the dish so much to the point her staff found it “unbelievable”.

This time around, knowing her love for the cuisine, friends gave her many bak kut teh packets to bring back to Hong Kong.

“I usually cook it myself back home. My maid also knows I love bak kut teh, so she will buy pork, tofu and bean sprouts to add to the dish,” the TVB star said.

Chan, famous for her roles in the dramas Ghetto Justice (2011) and Line Walker (2014), also shared her secrets for maintaining a youthful appearance and svelte figure.

“I like using mud masks and applying aloe vera on the skin.

“My metabolism will slow down with age, so proper exercise is key.

“Taking my child on trips is a form of workout for me. I also walk for 15 minutes each day,” she said.

Chan also said she wants to spend more time with her seven-year-old son, whom she welcomed with her husband, businessman William Lui, in 2016.

The couple tied the knot in Bali, Indonesia, in 2014 after a 10-year courtship.
