QuickCheck: Are notifications about #PosMalaysiaRun running kits legitimate?

Scammers are getting more creative by the day. From non-existent investment schemes to promises of cash aid, unsuspecting victims become easy targets for such fake messages purportedly from legitimate organisations.

Recently, it was reported that Pos Malaysia customers had received notifications about a “failed” delivery of #PosMalaysiaRun running kit. Is this a legitimate message from Pos Malaysia?

Pos Malaysia has alerted its customers that scam messages claiming to be about the delivery of the #PosMalaysiaRun running kit are fake.

“Pos Malaysia has identified that many of our customers have been receiving scam messages regarding the delivery of the #PosMalaysiaRun running kit. These messages are fake!” it said on its official Instagram account.

It urges everyone to always be vigilant and take proactive action in addressing this issue.

“If you receive such a message; please ignore it, delete it immediately & block the number. Don’t forget to report it to the National Scam Response Centre at 997 or WhatsApp the Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) infoline at 013-2111222,” it added.
