Blackpink’s Rose signs solo deal with Atlantic Records
Rose is the latest member from K-pop girl group Blackpink to sign a solo deal with an American record label.
“I know you’ve all waited so long for this moment, but I hope you’re ready for what’s in store for the next few months,” Rose, who is joining Atlantic Records, wrote to her fans on Instagram on Sept 27.
“I cannot wait for you all to hear everything, so hang on tight. Miss you all dearly.”
The 27-year-old also urged her fans to follow her “finsta”, or fake Instagram account, @vampirehollie, where her team will be posting upcoming news about her music and some cute moments.
The Korean-New Zealand singer shared in February that “vampirehollie” was a placeholder name for a song she has been working on since 2023. She released her debut single album, R, in March 2021.
Atlantic Records, whose roster of artistes includes American singer Bruno Mars, British rock band Coldplay and English singer Ed Sheeran, also posted on social media on Sept 27 two photos of Rose with a bouquet of roses, with the caption: “Welcome to the family, Rose.”
Rose, whose full name is Roseanne Park, debuted as a member of Blackpink – which also consist of Jisoo, Jennie and Lisa – in 2016.
The quartet renewed an exclusive contract with South Korea’s YG Entertainment for group activities in December 2023, but did not renew the individual contracts for their solo activities.
Jennie’s agency OA Entertainment announced on Sept 9 that she had signed with American record label Columbia Records and will be releasing a single in October.
Meanwhile, Lisa in April signed with American record label RCA Records for solo recordings in a partnership with her agency Lloud.
She has since released two singles: Rockstar, in June, and New Woman, featuring Spanish singer Rosalia, in August. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
