MyDigital ID login not needed for MyJPJ app yet, says Transport Minister

PETALING JAYA: Users can continue using the MyJPJ application without having to log in using their MyDigital ID account even after Oct 10, says Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

Loke said the pop-up notice which appeared on the MyJPJ application requiring users to first have the MyDigital ID account was not an official announcement.

“I have ordered for the pop-up to be removed immediately as there has been no decision on it yet by the ministry,” he told a press conference at the ministry on Wednesday (Oct 2).

Loke said he had also met with MyDigital ID personnel following the post-Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

“We support integration efforts between MyDigital ID and MyJPJ but it has to be done seamlessly.

“We discussed and agreed that the usage of MyDigital ID to log in the MyJPJ application must be convenient for users.

“The previously stated Oct 10 deadline is also cancelled,” he said.

He also acknowledged netizens’ grouses on the matter.

He added the backend integration between both applications will also take some time and will be done in stages.

“There is no need to worry. You can still use the MyJPJ application after Oct 10. I have instructed JPJ to allow the public to continue using the application as usual,” he said, adding that there are more than 10.5 million active users for the app.

The press conference was called after Malaysians voiced their frustration on social media upon learning the need to install the app as part of the requirement to log into MyJPJ, which will be implemented on Oct 10.

On Wednesday, users attempting to register for MyDigital ID via the official app reported encountering error messages.

When LifestyleTech contacted the MyDigital ID hotline, a representative confirmed that the system is down due to the overwhelming number of users trying to access the app for new registrations.
