PJ woman escapes unhurt after tree falls on her car during downpour

KUALA LUMPUR: A 33-year-old woman escaped unhurt after a tree fell on her car in Taman Megah in Petaling Jaya.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the incident occurred at about 7.39pm on Wednesday (Oct 2) during a thunderstorm.

“Eight firemen were deployed to the scene.

“There was a tree that fell on top of a car and trapped the victim. Firemen managed to rescue her,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

The victim was unhurt and was handed over to her family, he said.

In another case, a tree fell on top of three cars in Taman Melawati in Kuala Lumpur.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Mohamad Arif Nasarudin said nine personnel were deployed to the scene at about 6.34pm.

“Firemen used chain saws to cut the trees, which fell on top of the car and obstructed traffic.

“Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) personnel also assisted in the operation. No one was hurt,” he said.
