New HK Girl Group Is Self-Funded & Had A Terribly Out-Of-Tune Debut Performance

You know that feeling when you hear certain singers performing and you start to wonder how they even have a career in music?

Well, the answer — at least for Hong Kong’s self-funded girl group UNi — is money.

Recently, the group, made up of four women in the 20s, held their debut press conference at The One Mall in Tsim Sha Tsui.

They said they write their own songs and also choreograph their dances, which they showcased during their performance of new single ‘Now’.

According to reports, UNi had a fifth member who recently dropped out of the group. The remaining members didn’t have time to change the choreography, which explains why they appeared uncoordinated during the performance.

That said, the girls looked cute and knew how to flaunt their assets in their outfits, but things really fell apart when they started singing.

A netizen shared UNi’s performance online and savagely named it: “I can’t be the only one who had to listen to this.”

“They should pay for singing and dance lessons first. No wonder they are self-funded. I wouldn’t listen to them even if you paid me to,” wrote the netizen.

Those who watched the video also did not hold back on their criticisms.

“This was so painful to hear. I wonder if the eardrums of their crew have been damaged beyond repair,” joked one such netizen.

A netizen also said that UNi’s singing was so bad that if she happened to see them perform in person, she would have lost her cool and shouted: “Stop singing!”
