Cops bust drug trafficking syndicate in Teluk Intan, five arrested

IPOH: Five men have been arrested for their involvement in a drug trafficking syndicate.

Perak police chief Datuk Comm Azizi Mat Aris stated that the arrests took place during a raid at a rented house in Chui Chak, near Teluk Intan, on Oct 10 around 8pm.

The suspects, aged between 30 and 47, have prior criminal and drug-related records.

Urine tests conducted on all five suspects returned positive for methamphetamine.

About 22kg of heroin, methamphetamine, and crystal meth were seized in translucent plastic packets, with an estimated total value of RM787,527.

Comm Azizi mentioned at a press conference at the state police contingent headquarters today (Oct 14) that the syndicate is believed to have been active since September, targeting the local market within the state.

The drugs seized could cater to 218,664 users.

The main suspect, aged 47, has 23 prior criminal and drug-related records.

All suspects have been remanded until Oct 17 to assist in investigations.

The raid also resulted in the seizure of two cars and a motorcycle valued at about RM26,000.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
