Grasshopper’s Remus Choy, 57, Had Brain Tumour Surgery, Shows 40cm Scar Running Around Back Of His Head

The Hong Kong singer was forced to sit out of the band’s San Francisco concerts last month as he was “not fit to perform in public or attend any public functions”.

Fans of Cantopop trio Grasshopper were left disappointed after Remus Choy was forced to sit out of the Hong Kong band’s two-night concert in San Francisco in September, as he was “not feeling well”.

According to the band, the 57-year-old was “not fit to perform in public or attend any public functions”, sparking speculation that there was an issue with his immune system.

Yesterday (Oct 20), Remus shocked fans when he posted a pic of himself with a shaved head, revealing that he had just undergone surgery to remove a brain tumour.

Sharing a snap of a huge scar running around the back of the head, he said the operation was a success and thanked his doctor and family for staying by his side, supporting and encouraging him.

According to reports, the scar appears to be around 40cm in circumference.

In his post, Remus also expressed gratitude to his bandmates, older brother Calvin Choy, 59, and Edmond So, 58, for their hard work during his surgery.

He added that he still needs time and space for recovery, but is confident about the future, saying: ” I believe my future life will be even more vibrant!”

Fans and showbiz friends flooded his socials with messages of encouragement, wishing him a speedy recovery.

“Looking forward to seeing you shine on stage again. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Love you!” said Joey Yeung. Singer Hins Cheung wrote: “Stay beautiful and fit. You’ll recover in no time!”

Remus could not perform, but the show must go on with Edmond (left) and Calvin (right) singing to a sold-out crowd.
