ETS, Komuter services disrupted by third-party tree-cutting near track, says KTMB

KUALA LUMPUR: The Electric Train Service (ETS) and KTM Komuter operations experienced disruptions last Friday (Oct 25) due to third-party tree-cutting activity, which severed the overhead line, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) said on Monday (Oct 28).

KTMB reported that the incident occurred at 2.45pm, resulting in delays exceeding 120 minutes on the ETS and KTM Komuter Port Klang-Tanjung Malim-Port Klang line, as only one track was available for alternating use.

Due to the disruptions, 13 ETS trains were delayed, affecting 3,480 passengers.

KTMB chief operating officer Mohd Zain Taha said, in a statement, that all passengers were notified of the disruption via SMS and could request a full refund if they did not continue their journey or receive a fare difference if their trip was incomplete.

He advised that those holding the Premium Takaful Plan could contact Etiqa Claim Assist at 1 300 88 1007/ 010 368 7829 or email [email protected] to file a claim if their journey was delayed for more than four hours.

“KTMB sincerely apologises to all affected users for the inconveniences experienced. For further inquiries, please contact the KTMB Call Centre at 03-9779 1200 or visit KTMB’s official social media,” he stated.

Mohd Zain reported that the repair work was completed by 3.30am on Saturday (Oct 26), and train services resumed at 3.54am.

“Throughout the service disruption, updates were communicated via official social media, and staff were stationed at the stations. Auxiliary police assisted in facilitating the movement of affected passengers,” he added. – Bernama
