Muay Thai star Nur Amisha honoured with prestigious Perak Medal, eyes future gold triumphs

PETALING JAYA: Muay Thai athlete, Nur Amisha Azril Rizal (pic, left), has been awarded the Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK), a Medal of Honour from the State of Perak, by the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, which has inspired her to continue achieving greatness.

Nur Amisha described the award as an invaluable honour in her career as an athlete representing Perak.

According to Sinar Harian, Nur Amisha said it is the highest form of appreciation and recognition for athletes like her to keep striving for improvement.

“Certainly, I feel proud and grateful as a native of Perak to receive this medal. All the sacrifices and efforts I have made in Muay Thai for the state and the country have received this priceless recognition.

“I also want to share this joy with everyone who has supported my success, especially my parents, siblings, coaches, and fellow athletes in Perak. Not to forget, the Malaysian Muay Thai Association and the Perak State Sports Council,” she told reporters.

Nur Amisha spoke after the Investiture Ceremony for the State Orders, Decorations, and Medals of Perak in conjunction with the 68th Birthday Celebration of the Sultan of Perak at Istana Iskandariah on Saturday (Nov 16).

She said that her focus after this would be on her professional career in the sport, while also being prepared to serve the national team if needed.

She has also set her sights on winning gold at the SEA Games in Thailand in 2025 and at the Muay Thai World Championships.

Meanwhile, sepak takraw athlete Meor Mohamad Zulfikar Mat Amin (pic, right) said that receiving the medal has motivated him to work even harder.

He described it as the highest recognition he has ever received as an athlete.

“For me, this is one of the best forms of recognition for the team as well. I hope next year, perhaps other players will also be able to receive it, God willing. I wish the best for the future.

“With this medal, I am more motivated to train diligently and achieve further success,” he said, having also received the PJK medal.

Also awarded the same medal at the ceremony were Perak hockey team coach Mohd Nizam Mohd Hashim and lawn bowl athlete Aleena Ahmad Nawawi.
