Pakho Chau Criticised For Getting Too Chummy With Female Fans During Fan Meet

Many felt the Hong Kong singer should be more mindful of his actions as he’s married with kids.

It’s every fan’s dream to be able to interact and get up close with their idols. But how close is too close?

That was the question on the minds of many netizens when they saw snaps of Hong Kong singer Pakho Chau with his female fans at a recent fan meet in Macau.

Last week, Pakho hosted a two-night fan meet to celebrate his 40th birthday.

This was his first large-scale birthday bash since entering showbiz in 2007.

Besides performing songs, he also offered plenty of “fan service”, allowing lucky fans selected to join him onstage for close interactions.

From hugs to kisses on the cheek, he entertained bold fan requests.

After the event, a photo showing the singer holding hands with a female fan gained widespread attention.

In the pic, the woman leaned closely against Pakho as though they were a couple.

It was later clarified that the pic was part of a photo op for VIP ticket holders.

Despite the explanation, the snap drew mixed reactions online, with many questioning whether this was appropriate behaviour for someone who is married.

Pakho and his wife of eight years, stylist Stephanie Chu, have two kids, a five-year-old daughter and three-year-old son.

There were comments like “Isn’t holding hands something you should reserve for your wife?”, “This is inappropriate” and “He’s married with kids. Shouldn’t he be more mindful?”

There were others who wondered about the reaction of his wife when she saw his intimate interactions with fans at the event.

“She must be incredibly understanding,” said a netizen.

The photo that sparked the brouhaha.
Hugs are just the basics at fan meets.
One fan even requested to be carried.
