Maintaining stability is my top priority, says Amirudin
SUBANG JAYA: Maintaining stability has always been Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari’s top priority since the first day he was sworn in as Selangor Mentri Besar.
He said this in reference to “recent speculation that would invite instability”.
Although he did not specify details, he is believed to be referring to reports that Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Aziz will leave Umno to join PKR and may be made the next Selangor MB.
Amirudin had allegedly expressed his intention privately to seek a federal-level post and top PKR officials reportedly said that this would be a natural leadership progression for him.
However, Amirudin said that stability is needed for his administration to continue what it started.
“The state government is currently focusing on drafting the Second Selangor Plan, expected to be ready in 2026.
“Other ongoing efforts include the Greater Klang Valley initiative and the Kita Selangor Rail Project. Stability is required to ensure the success of all these initiatives.
“Selangor’s economy will be affected and the people’s attention will be shifted from these important efforts when instability occurs,” he said in his speech during the Selangor Christmas Open House event in Bandar Sunway here on Saturday (Dec 14).
He emphasised that there would be no changes in his administration.
