Korean Star IU Is Very Allergic To Mosquito Bites
During a recent appearance on her pal Yoo In Na’s radio programme, Korean actress-singer IU, 31, revealed she suffers from Skeeter Syndrome — a severe allergic reaction to mosquito bites.
While on air, In Na posed this question to IU as part of her ‘This or That’ game segment: “Would you rather be disturbed by the buzz of a mosquito for an entire night, but not get bitten, or, not hear it at all, but wake up with a mosquito bite?”
IU immediately expressed her aversion to both options, answering: “I really don’t like both scenarios.”
She explained that her allergies to mozzie stings are so severe, the bites will begin to swell and blister almost immediately. In such cases, she’ll have to take antibiotics to recover.
IU also lamented about how mosquitoes seemed to favour stinging her face.
She said still has scars from mosquito bites she got as a child, and that the skin tissues on those areas are essentially “dead”.
“Even if I get acupuncture done on these areas, I don’t feel pain. I hate mosquitoes way more than I hate cockroaches,” she said.
Fans were very surprised to find out about IU’s condition, with some saying they “never knew that there were people who are allergic to mosquito bites”.
Perhaps the best gift for IU during her next visit to Singapore would be a bottle of mosquito repellant.
