2 More Chinese Stars Reported Missing After Travelling To Thailand For Work

Wang Xing’s abduction and subsequent rescue from a scam compound in Myanmar has left many shocked, but it looks like the search for victims is far from over.

The recent case of 31-year-old Chinese actor Wang Xing’s abduction at the Thailand-Myanmar border has renewed discussion about human trafficking.

The actor, who was lured to Thailand under the false promise of an acting gig, was made to work at a scam compound in Myanmar. Thankfully, thanks to his girlfriend’s quick reaction to the situation, and the help of Thai authorities, Wang Xing was rescued four days after his capture.

Sadly, it looks like there are other victims in need of help.

It turns out, Wang Xing was not the only actor who disappeared after reaching Thailand on January 3.

On January 8, I Will Find You A Better Home actress Shao Yifan took to social media to reveal that her pal Chinese actor He Jun Min had travelled to Thailand to film a show called Ji Du Nu Jing (缉毒女警).

He had received a message from a person claiming to work for GMM Grammy, the same way Wang Xing did. His exchange with the ‘GMM Grammy staff’ has also been posted online.

However, after he arrived in Thailand, Jun Min’s friends were unable to contact him. Although he did reply to messages three days after going MIA, his replies were said to be strange.

One of his friends managed to reach him on a call but said that it was obvious that Jun Min was being “watched” during the conversation. Jun Min also rejected their request for a video call.

During the call, Jun Min emphasised that he was in Thailand to film Ji Du Nu Jing, but when his friend probed for details, asking about the director and his filming schedule, Jun Min was unable to provide answers.

Worried for his safety, Jun Min’s friend asked him to send them a photo of himself. What the friend received however, was an old photo sent by another member of their group chat in December.

Chinese model Yang Ze Qi has also been reported to have gone missing.

According to Ze Qi’s cousin, the model also received a message on December 8 last year about an acting job in Thailand. He boarded a plane to Suvarnabhumi International Airport on December 29, and upon his arrival, was picked up by a car arranged by the film company that headed for the Thailand-Myanmar border.

If the details sound all too familiar, it’s because Ze Qi’s post-flight arrangements were the same as Wang Xing after arriving in Bangkok.

On the day of his arrival, Ze Qi made a video call to his mum, who said there were obvious bruises at the corner of his eyes.

Ze Qi’s friends also received an SOS message from him the day after, but he has remained uncontactable since.

After hearing about Wang Xing’s successful rescue, Ze Qi’s cousin decided to post about the situation online in hopes that he can also be found.

Ze Qi’s family has reported the case to the Chinese embassy in both Thailand and Myanmar, and are wishing for his safe return.

Wang Xing did mention in an interview that he was locked in a scam compound and forced to work alongside some 50 other people.

Celebs or not, hopefully, all those who are held there against their will can be rescued.
