Four including six-month-old boy killed in Kota Tinggi car-lorry crash

KOTA TINGGI: Four people, including a six-month-old boy, have been killed in an accident involving a car and a five-tonne lorry on Jalan Batu 3 here.

Kota Tinggi Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Shahrulnizam Johari said they received a distress call on the incident at 12.52pm on Saturday (Jan 11).

“The four victims were pronounced dead at the location by the medical team.

“The victims are Aieman Azriq Ahmad, 21; Nurul Fazilah Noor Azmi, 21; Aryan Kasyaf Abdul Razzaq, six months; and another man in his 20s,” he said in a statement, adding that the lorry driver suffered a knee injury.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Yusof Othman said that the car appeared to have gone out of control and crashed into an incoming lorry coming from the opposite direction.

“Police received a report about the incident at 1pm on Saturday.

“The vehicle was driven by a 21-year-old woman, with two male passengers aged 21 and 17, and a six-month-old baby boy.

“The lorry was driven by a 60-year-old man,” he said in a statement.

Supt Yusof added that Aieman Azriq and Nurul Fazilah were married and the six-month-old baby is their son.

“The 17-year-old teenage boy is a family friend.

“We are still investigating the relationships between the victims involved,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
