Singaporean charged in Johor Bahru for drug trafficking; faces the death penalty or life imprisonment if convicted
SINGAPORE (The Straits Times/ANN): A Singaporean man suspected of drug trafficking has been charged in a court in Johor Bahru, reported China Press.
The 33-year-old, who was charged on Jan 31, faces the death penalty or life imprisonment if convicted, according to the Malaysian media outlet.
He is among four people – three Singaporeans and one Thai national – nabbed on Jan 22. All four were unnamed in the media report.
Besides the 33-year-old, the other three suspects will be detained till Feb 5, the Johor police said in response to media queries.
The police added that the suspects – aged between 30 and 40 – are friends and rented a condominium in Malaysia to produce drug-laced vapes. The group’s operations started in December 2024.
The police found seven types of drugs, such as heroin and ketamine, in the suspects’ premises when they arrested the quartet.
Besides drug trafficking, the 33-year-old man is also wanted for a separate drug-related offence in Malaysia. – The Straits Times/ANN
