TVB Actress’ Daughter, 4, Attends 2 Kindergartens; Schedule Is So Packed She Eats, Naps, & Uses Toilet In Car

We’ve heard many stories of tiger mums pushing their kids to excel, but TVB actress Lena Li, 38, has got to be the most extreme.
The former 2011 Miss Hong Kong contestant, who has played mainly supporting roles in dramas like Mission Run (2022) and The Invincibles (2023), has enrolled her daughter Amber, four, in two kindergartens so the girl doesn’t fall behind in any of the three languages.
Amber attends two schools daily: Christ Church Kindergarten (CCKG), which focuses on English, in the morning; and Hong Kong Soka Kindergarten, which emphasises Cantonese, in the afternoon.
Besides the two schools, Lena has arranged various extracurricular activities for Amber, such as choir and piano.
The daily commute involves travelling between Yuen Long, where they live, and Kowloon Tong six times.
To save commuting time, Lena bought a seven-seater car to shuttle Amber around.
Lena shared Amber’s daily schedule on Xiaohongshu and, boy, is it hectic.
Amber leaves for school at 7.30am every morning. To save time, she brushes her teeth, changes into her school uniform, and has breakfast in the vehicle.
When she finishes school at CCKG at noon, Amber eats lunch, naps, and changes uniforms again in the car before heading to her afternoon classes at Soka Kindergarten.
Lena even has a portable toilet in the car so Amber can do her business.
Lena’s intense schedule for her daughter has drawn criticism from netizens, with many calling her a “tiger mum” and “monster parent”.
“Do you feel proud of this? I just feel sorry for the child. At only three or four years old, she’s already experiencing a schedule like an adult’s full-day work with no rest. Do you really think this is good for her?” questioned one netizen.
Another asked: “Why do this? The child is really suffering. She has no childhood.”
However, Lena remains firm in her parenting approach, explaining that she wants Amber to build a solid foundation in language learning.
She said that Amber is genuinely happy attending both schools and considers it a meaningful childhood experience.
She added that many of Amber’s classmates at CCKG also attend two schools, and the practice is quite common: “I don’t feel proud; every parent has their own way of doing things… Even if you don’t agree with it, I hope you can respect it.”
Her effort seems to have paid off.
Lena recently shared Amber’s achievements on her socials, including awards from Mandarin recitation competitions and her GESE English-speaking certificate.
“I’m very happy that Amber, at just four years old, received a GESE English Speaking certificate with a distinction. At home, it’s mainly our helper who helps her with her English lessons, so she was especially happy to see her perform so well,” she wrote, adding that hard work pays off.
