Pos Malaysia CEO apologises for response to mailman who asked about replacing torn uniform

PETALING JAYA: Pos Malaysia Berhad group chief executive officer Charles Brewer, has apologised for his response to a postman who asked on social media if he would be getting a replacement for his torn uniform.

“We acknowledge the recent social media posts referencing an internal matter on March 19 involving a damaged uniform.

“Immediate actions were taken to engage directly with the employee concerned and the matter has been fully resolved.

“Brewer… has conveyed his apologies to the staff involved and extends his apologies to anyone who may have been affected or offended by his comment.

“He acknowledges that he should have responded with greater empathy and commits to continuing to foster a respectful and supportive environment for all Pos Wiras,” read the post on Saturday (April 19).

Pos Malaysia added that they would improve its internal processes to ensure that uniforms are replaced in a more timely and efficient manner to support “Pos Wiras” who service the community.

The postman concerned had uploaded a picture of him wearing a uniform on social media, asking when they would be getting replacements. He added that customers had asked him about it.

Brewer, in his response, said that the postman should “count himself lucky” he did not work for a foreign carrier who did not provide uniforms.

He was widely chided on social media for his response, with many saying this was unbecoming of a leader.
