Influencer Criticised For Looking Gleeful When Talking About Getting Sexually Assaulted By Disgraced Idol Kris Wu

Chinese-Canadian singer Kris Wu, 34, was sentenced to 13 years in jail in 2022 after being found guilty of sexual offences including rape.

Kris’ fall from grace started when Chinese influencer Du Meizhu, now 23, accused him of date-raping her when she was 17. She later exposed him for being a sexual predator who had intercourse with minors.

More than 20 women eventually came forward with similar allegations against Kris, sparking a police investigation that landed him behind bars.

Meizhu recently appeared on an online talk show, where she spilled the details on what happened between her and Kris.

She recalled playing cards with Kris and a group of acquaintances, with Kris offering to partner up with her.

Lots of alcohol was involved, and Meizhu said she did not know what was going on except that the group kept asking her to drink.

“Kris was very nice about it and offered to help me drink a little bit. He acted like a very nice older guy and was very gentlemanly,” she said.

When Meizhu got too drunk, Kris’ female manager brought her into a room to rest.

“Some time passed, and I felt a guy beside me. He told me ‘Baby I really like you’, and then he kissed me and left,” she said.

The rest of the details were a blur to Meizhu, but she believes she was taken to another house, where she was raped by Kris.

“When I woke up, I realised we were in bed together. I was confused because that had never happened to me before and I was feeling very dizzy. I did not know what to do. I was scared and I wanted to leave but he held me back,” said Meizhu.

According to her, Kris tried to calm her down and said they should become a couple. He also promised to take responsibility for what he did.

Meizhu said she only had two options: Run away and accept that she had been taken advantage of, or be in a relationship with Kris.

“I feel like I could only pick the second option,” she said.

While many netizens were left wondering why Meizhu has decided to talk about the incident only now, most were more confused about why she appeared so “excited” and “gleeful” while talking about getting sexually assaulted.

“Why is she smiling?” asked one netizen, while another said: “She doesn’t come off like the victim. She sounds too excited about the whole thing.”

After the Kris Wu saga, Meizhu’s reputation took a beating when her former boss accused her of taking advantage of a male model, saying she was “not a good person” either.

Meizhu’s former BFF also took Kris’ side, claiming that Meizhu had bragged about dating the idol, and had planned to take advantage of the situation to get money from Kris.

However, there were also a handful of netizens who were on Meizhu’s side, describing the negative comments as “victim-shaming” and “unempathetic”.
