3.4 magnitude earthquake strikes Segamat, fifth in a week
PETALING JAYA: A 3.4-magnitude earthquake was detected in Segamat, Johor at 4.24 am on Friday (Aug 29).
It was the fifth earthquake to hit the state in five days.
According to the Malaysia Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), the quake originated 22km to the northeast of Segamat and 10km underground.
“The tremors were felt in Johor. The department will continue to monitor the situation,” it stated in a Facebook post on Friday.

Segamat had recorded four earthquakes, two on Aug 24 and once on Aug 27 and 28, with magnitudes ranging between 2.5 and 4.1.
