MACC opens investigation following Albert Tei revelations on mining scandal

SHAH ALAM: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has opened an investigation oover businessman Albert Tei’s latest revelations on the mining scandal in Sabah.

MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said he had instructed Sabah MACC to continue the investigation based on the latest information revealed.

“An investigation into the issue is underway. I have also ordered that both individuals involved be called to give statements to complete the ongoing investigation,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 24), reported Sinar Harian.

A news portal had published a report on a video, purportedly of Tei and a Sabah politician said to have received kickbacks.

Tei is among three individuals, including two state assemblymen, who were charged at the Kota Kinabalu Special Corruption Court over the mining license scandal in Sabah.
