10 Selangor Bersatu assemblymen hit out at ‘enemies within’

PETALING JAYA: Ten Selangor assemblymen from Bersatu have hit out at several of its leaders supposedly linked to a plot to oust party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, calling them “enemies within”.

In a joint statement Tuesday (Sept 30), the Selangor state representatives criticised Bersatu supreme council member Wan Saiful Wan Jan, Sepang division chief Datuk Suhaimi Mohd Ghazali, Ampang division chief Mohd Isa Saidi and Ipoh Timur division chief Muhd Fadhli Ismail over remarks made during a press conference on Monday (Sept 29).

“Their statements showed a desperate attempt to shift focus from their own failed scheme, including the effort to remove the president through a statutory declaration movement, which received no support.

“They are like enemies within the party conspiring with outsiders. The (party) disciplinary board should convene quickly and take firm action against the four,” they said on Tuesday.

The joint statement was signed by Kuang assemblyman Mohd Rafiq Mohd Abdullah, Rosnizan Ahmad (Morib), Wan Dzahanurin Ahmad (Sungai Kandis), Dr Afif Bahardin (Taman Medan), Muhammad Hilman Idham (Gombak Setia), Datuk Harrison Hassan (Jeram), Datuk Seri Jamil Salleh (Dengkil), Datuk Noorazley Yahya (Bukit Melawati), Nurul Syazwani Noh (Permatang) and Muhammad Muhaimin Harith Abdullah Sani (Batang Kali).

They also condemned what they described as repeated slander against Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, who was linked to a controversial video that surfaced in 2019.

They pointed out police had already carried out an in-depth investigation and on Jan 9, 2020, the then Attorney General confirmed that the Deputy Public Prosecutors had unanimously recommended that there was no case for prosecution.

The assemblymen said Wan Saiful and others were distorting facts to change the narrative after their alleged plot failed.

“Lies cannot be covered up with more lies.

“What should instead be highlighted is his own case as Wan Saiful has not only been investigated but is now facing prosecution in court for allegedly misappropriating millions of ringgit,” they said.

“This shows the authorities have strong grounds and he should answer the charges in court instead of attacking others with baseless accusations,” they added.

The assemblymen also voiced full support for Muhyiddin as party president and Azmin as secretary-general, stressing that loyalty and discipline were key to the party’s struggle.
