KL cops seize RM3.85mil in drugs, arrest six in Klang Valley raids

KUALA LUMPUR: Some RM3.85mil worth of drugs were seized following six raids across the Klang Valley.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said the drug syndicates used condominiums as storage facilities for drugs.

“We conducted the raids from Oct 14 until 17. Three local men and three foreign women aged between 33 and 61 were also detained during the raids,” he told reporters at the KL police headquarters on Tuesday (Oct 21).

He said the raids, carried out in six separate operations, led to the seizure of various types of drugs worth an estimated RM3.85mil.

“The first raid, conducted at 1.10pm, saw police arresting a man in a car at a supermarket parking lot in Maluri, Cheras, where 1,000 plastic packets containing suspected methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) powder weighing 18.3kg were found,” he said.

He said the second raid, about 20 minutes later, was conducted at the roadside in Pandan Perdana, Ampang Jaya, where another local man was arrested.

“Further investigations led police to a house in the area, where a foreign woman was arrested and various drugs were seized, including 990g of MDMA powder, 195g of Erimin 5 pills, 32.78g of ketamine, and 52.81g of ecstasy pills,” he said.

Comm Fadil said the third raid on Oct 15 took place at a condominium unit in Pandan Perdana, where another foreign woman was detained with a canvas bag containing three transparent plastic packages with 1.2kg of MDMA powder.

“In the fourth raid, another foreign woman was arrested outside the same condominium with a bag containing six plastic packets of suspected MDMA weighing 215g,” he added.

A subsequent inspection inside the condominium led to a major seizure: 7,650 plastic packets of suspected MDMA weighing 419.7kg along with four plastic containers containing 22.1kg of MDMA powder and drug-processing equipment.

Comm Fadil said the final operation, conducted at 10.10pm on Oct 17, resulted in the arrest of a local man at a supermarket car park along Jalan Imbi.

“Checks on the car found 38.7kg of cannabis buds,” he said.

Initial investigations revealed that the syndicate used condominium units as drug storage facilities and car parks as transaction points, he said.

“The first syndicate has been active since February, distributing processed MDMA, while the second syndicate, operating since September, focused on the distribution of cannabis around the Klang Valley,” he added.

Comm Fadil said background checks revealed that two of the suspects had prior criminal records.

“All suspects have been remanded for seven days to assist in investigations. We also seized RM10,400 in cash, jewellery, and luxury watches believed to be linked to the operation.

“The drugs seized could have been supplied to 1.7 million users,” he said.
