Missing camper rescued in Tawau after six days
KOTA KINABALU: A man missing for six days in Kalabakan, Tawau, has been found.
Khairul Saharin, 31, was found at 7.43am on Tuesday (Oct 21) as the ongoing search and rescue operation resumed.
He was found weak and traumatised, said operations commander Khalik Ali.
He said Khairul was helped out of the forest and given a preliminary medical examination before being sent to the Kalabakan Health Clinic for further treatment.
Khairul had gone camping, fishing and foraging with his cousin in the forest at Mile 32, along the Kalabakan-Maliau Basin road, on Oct 14.
They became separated while returning to the campsite.
The cousin then waited a day, believing that Khairul would turn up soon.
After Khairul failed to return, and calls to his mobile went unanswered, the cousin lodged a police report at 8.55pm the following day.
It is learnt that Khairul’s condition is stable but doctors are monitoring his condition as he was found dehydrated, hungry and weak.
