Negri Sembilan JPJ seizes 106 luxury vehicles worth RM21mil

SEREMBAN: The Negri Sembilan Road Transport Department (JPJ) has seized 106 luxury vehicles worth some RM21mil across the state this year.

State JPJ director Hanif Yusabra Yusuf said the seizures were due to owners’ failure to comply with the Road Transport Act 1987, including expired licences, no valid insurance, and invalid driving licences.

He said the seized luxury cars included Mercedes A, C, E and S-Class, Porsche Macan, Cayenne, Panamera, Taycan and 718 Cayman, BMW 3, 5, 7 and X5, Audi A- and Q-Series, and Toyota Alphard and Vellfire.

“The enforcement action involved vehicle owners aged 35 to 55, including a businessman with the title Datuk.

“This luxury vehicle seizure is among the largest by Negri Sembilan JPJ, compared with 20 vehicles last year, marking an 80% increase,” he said at a press conference on Wednesday (Dec 24).

Hanif Yusabra said the enforcement also issued 318 notices for offences, including no or expired road tax, vehicle licensing breaches, and other violations under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333).

He said the operation is part of a nationwide crackdown and will continue to target illegally owned or unregistered luxury vehicles and road tax evasion.
