Cops nab six suspected IS members, including three minors
KUALA LUMPUR: Six suspected Islamic State (IS) members, including three minors, were nabbed following raids in several states.
Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said the six male suspects aged between 16 and 21 years old, were nabbed by the Special Branch Counter Terrorism Division (E8) in the Klang Valley, Kedah, Terengganu and Johor on Feb 14 and 15.
“We seized various items connected to IS including 11 mobile phones, two laptops, an external hard drive, four IS flags, an IS T-shirt and three books on extremism,” he told a press conference in Bukit Aman on Friday (March 6).
Besides reciting the “bai’ah” (oath of loyalty) to IS leaders, the suspects also were actively recruiting new members and plotting terror attacks, he said.
“Their targets were police stations, important government installations and locations of public interest.
“They were also promoting the terror group on social media,” he said.
