Triple murder in KL shophouse: Parents arrested, two more suspects on the run
KUALA LUMPUR: A gruesome discovery was made by police responding to a fight here after three foreigners were found bound and murdered.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said that police at the time were responding to a call regarding a fight at a shophouse in Jalan Perhentian Kampung Kovil Hilir late Friday (Sept 22) night.
Two suspects that were involved in the fight had fled before the police arrived.
“Inspections at the second floor of the lot led to the discovery of three dead men, all tied up, in a store room,” he said in a press conference at the Sentul police headquarters on Saturday (Sept 23).
One of the bodies was found naked.
A Sri Lankan couple, who were also the parents of one of the killed men, have been detained to assist investigations.
“The victims are aged in their 20s and 30s. A post-mortem on all three bodies will be conducted.
“Our belief so far is that the two missing men are the main suspects in this case. We have yet to identify a motive behind the murders,” he said.
A knife found at the scene has been confiscated by the police. Forensics police found no obvious signs of a struggle at the scene.
Comm Allaudeen added that the suspects were acquaintances of the parents, having been friends for about six months.
The other two murdered men were known to have been renting rooms in the shophouse.
Police were told that both suspects, also believed to be Sri Lankan, were at the shop having stayed over a night or two at the time, with Comm Allaudeen saying this could prove that the murders had been premeditated.
“Efforts to trace down the two men are underway,” he said adding that the police have already identified the two.
