KL cops nab 24 women, six men in anti-vice raids
KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 30 individuals, including 24 women working as guest relation officers (GRO) have been detained in a series of raids at four nightspots here.
The raids, codenamed Ops Noda, started at 11.30pm on Saturday (Feb 3) and were conducted by officers from the Kuala Lumpur CID’s anti-vice, gambling and secret societies division (D7).
Two nightspots were located on Jalan Kampung Pandan, one at Jalan Sultan Ismail and another in Taman Miharja, Cheras.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said 30 individuals were detained, including 26 foreigners aged from 20 to 41.
“Of those arrested, four nightspot managers were locals. Of the 26 foreigners detained, two were male workers from Myanmar and 24 women working as GROs.
“The 24 foreign women comprised 10 Indonesians, seven Vietnamese, three Chinese nationals, three Thai nationals and a Laos national,” he said when contacted on Sunday (Feb 4).
Further checks revealed that two out of four premises raided did not have valid business licenses and three employed GROs, he added.
