Selangor police to refer money-in-suitcase papers to Bukit Aman

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor police will refer the investigation papers (IP) involving the suitcase containing over RM500,000 found in the car park of a shopping mall in Damansara to Bukit Aman.

Selangor Police Chief Commissioner Datuk Hussein Omar Khan (pic) said the investigation paper would be sent over to Bukit Aman so that their legal division could look into it.

“We have completed the investigation papers but before we hand it over to the Deputy Public Prosecutor, we want the Bukit Aman legal division to look into it first.

“Only one individual has come forward to lay claim to the money, but the individual could not give a clear source of where the money came from,” he told reporters after attending the Selangor Police Townhall Discussion on Wednesday (May 15).

He said this is the main reason why the views of the legal division are needed before the IP is handed over.

“For now, only the lumber company director has come forward to claim it, and we have taken statements from him and at least eight others during the course of our investigations,” he said.

It was reported that a suitcase with over half a million ringgit inside was discovered on March 20 in a shopping mall in Petaling Jaya.

A security guard at the shopping mall found the bag while on patrol.

The pink and white luggage bag was without a lock when it was found.
